EcoSafety & Sustainability is not currently accepting new clients. We provide ongoing support for existing clients related to past work only.
From 2007 to 2022, EcoSafety & Sustainability supported clients' efforts to base their business decisions on sound evaluation of environmental risk and sustainability data, as well as emerging regulations and public interest in these areas. Our clients ranged from industry trade groups and Fortune 500 companies aiming to improve environmental performance, to growing organizations looking for design and implementation of winning environmental strategies. We provided three broad categories of service described below.

We design and implement custom approaches for clients wishing to proactively address environmental sustainability in their organization or product design.
We create, document, and maintain databases and custom-made decision support systems to evaluate the behavior and effects of chemicals in the environment and risks to wildlife and humans.
We design and oversee customized laboratory studies tightly targeted to answer questions about unique situations affecting our clients' products.
When our clients go above and beyond in making products with excellent environmental performance, we help with ecolabeling, including substantiation, to comply with the US FTC Green Guides and other guidance.
ENVIRONMENTAL RISK ASSESSMENT
Our environmental risk assessments range from pharmaceutical active ingredients to crop protection chemicals; from adhering to the formal requirements of regulatory submissions to tailor-made reports used to support organizations' internal sustainability decision-making.
We have extensive experience performing assessments under the European Medicines Agency guideline for active pharmaceutical Ingredients, including ERAs for legacy compounds relying on data we compile and review from the open scientific literature.
We recommend, design, and oversee studies conducted in commercial laboratories to support risk assessment.
We are not affiliated with a commercial lab, leaving us free to advocate for data waivers or the use of data from existing published studies when scientifically justified, saving clients from needless cost and effort.

environmental risk COMMUNICATION AND NEGOTIATION
Regulatory negotiations need not be a zero-sum game. We represent corporate clients in technical negotiations in the US, Canada, and the EU, identifying common ground and securing agreement on efficient ways to safeguard the environment without undue cost burdens.
Every project we undertake includes education as a key dimension. Chemical behavior in the environment and interactions with wildlife can be counterintuitive. We educate clients, jurists, and the public using simple graphics, plain English explanations, and solid scientific substantiation.
